Chief Cane out rules out of openning rounds

Double Super Rugby champions the Chiefs have lost All Blacks loose forward Sam Cane for the start of the new season due to Rugby Injuryinjury.
Cane scored a try in the first half of the Chiefs Super Rugby warm up match on Friday but had to be helped from the field later in the match.

The Chiefs went on to beat the Blues 43-19 in Rotorua but look to have paid a price for the victory.

Chiefs coach Dave Rennie says that twenty-two-year-old Cane is looking at “a few weeks” on the sidelines.

Rennie says that the openside flanker got his leg caught in an awkward position and then got twisted on his back.

The Chiefs open their 2014 Super Rugby season against the Crusaders in Christchurch on Friday.

The Chiefs have won back to back Super Rugby titles and are looking for a third title – a threepeat.
