Mealamu to miss Super Rugby openner

All Black and Blues hooker Keven Mealamu will miss his team’s Super Rugby opener against the Highlanders but he has no Rugby Injurycomplaints about making a delayed start.

Blues coach Sir John Kirwan plans to start veteran All Black hooker and prop Tony Woodcock in the Blues second Super Rugby match which is against the Crusaders.

Mealamu says that he would like to play against the Highlanders but he also sees the logic in Kirwan’s plan to rest him for the opening round.

“It’s hard not being out there, but that opportunity to get our bodies in better nick for what is going to be a long Super season, it’s a good opportunity for us,” said Mealamu at the NZ season launch.
