The world cup winning captain injured his knee against the Boks in Auckland, but has recovered much faster than expected. He was included in coach Steve Hansen’s squad despite the injury in the hope that he will return for the competition deciding match in Johannesburg.
All Blacks assistant coach Ian Foster told Fairfax NZ News: “He’s progressing a little bit quicker than we expected which is why he’s here. There’s a bit more ground to cover. This week is important for him to carry on that progress. The signs are really positive. He’s certainly in a good space.”
