Jake White has chosen to stick with the same team that downed the Bulls in Pretoria last weekend as he leads his team onto yet another one of the world’s most intimidating venues to play the Chiefs in the Super Rugby finals in Hamilton.
This will mean that White has not changed the team in three straight matches showing that consistency does pay off in the competitions “do or die” stage.
“At this stage of the season it’s nice to be making consistent selections and keeping the same team together. I’m pleased with how the season has unfolded so far but we have one more challenge to overcome before we can be completely satisfied.” Said White
“They are the Champions, they have been here before and are playing at home so for our guys to beat the Chiefs will take a huge effort, Our players have worked hard to get to this Final and I can assure you they are not thinking of leaving here without another Brumbies championship.” He added
George Smith will don his beloved Brumbies shirt for the last time this weekend earning his 142nd Cap for the franchise and while his hairstyle has changed it is clear that his commitment to the team has not since making his debut in 2000. This will also be his 5th Super Rugby final which ties the record with fellow Wallaby greats George Gregan and Stephen Larkham.
