The former Wasp will add masses of experience to the Currie Cup team next month and help sure up a pack that struggled a little throughout Super Rugby.
The 34 year old has spent the last 6 seasons in the English Premiership representing Leicester Tigers, Leeds Carnegie and London Wasps and making a total of 114 appearances in the competition. He also player a season at Italian club Treviso, represented the Bulls and Cats in Super Rugby and the Cheetahs and Boland in the Currie Cup. He received the honour of representing the Southern Kings against the British and Irish Lions in 2009.
Wentzel was put on stand by by Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer for last years Northern Hemisphere tour after injuries to Andries Bekker and Johann Muller. The last of his test caps were in 2002.
