Catrakilis out of second relegation play-off match

Demetri Ctarakilis left the the field in the 57th minute last weekend due to a shoulder injury and has subsequently been ruled out of the return play-off leg.

This comes as a massive blow to the Kings, who will find themselves out of Super Rugby in 2014 if they don’t beat the Lions by 7 points or more in Johannesburg.Rugby Injury

Catrikilis has been one of the Kings’ stars this season and they will dearly miss his calm head and accurate boot.

Kings’ director of rugby, Alan Solomons, confirmed the rumours that Catrikilis was unfit to the play the all-important return match.

“Demetri has sustained a similar injury to that of Steven Sykes earlier this season, which will see him out for between four and six weeks, which means he will not be up for contention for the second promotion relegation game,” said Solomons.

It is going to take a mammoth effort from the Kings to turn this one around, and it is likely that George Whitehead will be the man entrusted with the number 10 jersey.
