Meyer brings in Ebersohn, at last!

Robert Ebersohn has been brought into the Springbok test squad for the upcoming international against Italy on RW StampSaturday in place of the injured JJ Engelbrecht.

Some would say that he deserved to be there in the first place after helping the Cheetahs in a breakout season this year, winning a franchise record 8 matches and showing some sublime form.

Ebersohn could link up with springbok captain Jean de Villiers in the mid field in what could be a devastating partnership. With injuries to Engelbrecht and the more experienced Juan de Jongh, the Cheetahs star could find himself in a Bok jersey much earlier than expected.

“I’m really happy for Robert and his call-up is well-deserved,” said Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer.

“He’s really playing great rugby for the Cheetahs at the moment and was involved in both of our training camps this season, but in the end just missed out on selection to the final squad.”
