Some good news from Stormers doctors as Boks return

Rugby InjuryStormers fans have be rejoicing after their 22 – 15 victory over the Sharks last week, but now they can celebrate the imminent return of three of their Springboks.

Stormers coach Allister Coetzee has told the media that they will have the services of Boks Eben Etzebeth, Bryan Habana and Elton Jantjies for their upcoming tour of Australasia.

Along with the trio of Boks, Siyabonga Ntubeni and Rynhardt Elstadt have recovered from their respective shoulder injuries and will be available for selection against the Hurricanes in Wellington.

Etzebeth and Jantjies are expected to be selected for the teams second tour match against the Blues.

Don Armand and Gerhard van den Heever are still under evaluation but will probably not make it on tour. Armand is suffering with a rib injury and van den Heever with a knee injury.

Hooker Deon Fourie suffered a concussion during last weekends match with the Sharks, but will be fit and ready for the start of the tour.

Hooker Tiaan Liebenberg (elbow), lock Ruan Botha (ankle) and flyhalf Peter Grant (ankle) are still injured and will not be selected. Schalk Burger is recovering from Bacterial meningitis and Deon Carstens has announced his retirement because of an ongoing back injury.

Allister Coetzee admitted his relief at the amount of players return after their second bye week and ahead of their crunch tour.

“It’s great to see the long list of players returning from injury – especially when one considers how many players we’ve been without of late. The bye has come at a good time for us this week. The guys have a few days off and we’ll have our first (and only) session of the week on Friday, before we fly overseas on Saturday,” he said.
