Sharks bring in backup

Due to a number of injuries, John Plumtree has been forced to call in players from outside of the Sharks Super Rugby squad.Injury

Flank Jaco Kriel and Fullback/Wing/Flyhalf Andries Coetzee have been invited to train with Sharks and could even turn out for the Vodacom Cup side in order to test whether they merit inclusion into the full Super Rugby squad.

Kriel comes in for the injured Jacques Botes, who has a suspected broken arm, and Coetzee comes in for Louis Ludik who looks set to miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury.

Kriel starts with the Durban-based side this week, while Coetzee still has to complete his last week of his rehab before joining them. It seems both players could make the tour to Australasia, as both have Super Rugby experience, and would not be thrown into the deep end if they had to start in New Zealand or Australia.

Both Golden Lions players will welcome the possibility of high-level game time as their tour to the USA was recently cancelled due to a lack of quality opposition.
