Kirchner ruled out for six weeks

InjuryThe Bulls enter their bye week with the news that their Springbok fullback Zane Kirchner will be side lined for 6 weeks after dislocating his finger against the Brumbies last week.

He will undergo surgery on his finger later this week once back in Pretoria.

On the bright side they are expecting the return of four of their other injured Springboks in time to take on the Cheetahs in two weeks’ time.

Up front, Prop Dean Greyling returns from, a fracture in his foot will represent the Blue Bulls Vodacom Cup side as preparation for the rigors of Super Rugby the following week. He is expected to be joined by lock Flip van der Merwe who has recovered from a chest injury.

On the wings, the Springbok duo of Bjorn Basson and Akona Ndungane are also expected to make a return for the Cheetahs match.

Bassons ankle and Ndungane’s broken jaw have both healed sufficiently to allow them to begin light training ahead of the match.

Other injuries to the Bulls include, Wynand Olivier (two to three weeks – knee injury), Francois Hougaard (two weeks – ankle injury) and Grant Hattingh (five weeks – thumb fracture) and Marcel van der Merwe who will not be in contention any time soon.
